Wyatt Russell, meanwhile, is not Chris Evans or Anthony Mackie and has been hired to play Captain America, which is apparently enough to wish death upon him. What makes it all the more galling is that the actor doesn’t even have a Twitter account, so the majority of threats have been aimed at a fan page being run by his supporters. -https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/falcon-winter-soldier-star-death-threats-captain-america/
This is one of those stories where I think, "Damn, coulda seen that one coming". The entire point of the John Walker character is to piss people off and show how special Steve Rodgers was. If you haven't been keeping up with the MCU on Disney+, John Walker was selected to succeed Steve as Cap after Sam gave up the shield. He is supposed to be the government operative version of the character which is usually referred to as U.S. Agent. Think if Black Widow was Captain America in the sense of her blind devotion to orders and dependence on structure (pre-Winter Soldier). If you're accepting a role like Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in today's world, you have to accept there will be death threats. There will be poorly executed jokes about your 5 o'clock shadow and the fact you look like the Costco Cap. It comes with the territory of obsessive universes like the MCU. I'd say if he wasn't getting any death threats he's doing a terrible job.
In all reality, he is great in the show and rides the fence of good and bad tremendously. His good intentions are polluted by selfish motivations and that perfectly foils Cap and crew who consistently put their lives on hold for the good of the world. That being said, I still can't wait to see Sam throw this fraud off a building.
