Trevor Bauer to Dodgers. It's a Wrap, Folks

The Dodgers landed the best free agent of the 2021 class in Trevor Bauer. The rich just got richer, and they look unstoppable.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series last season, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays four games to two to clinch their first title since 1988. Led by superstars Mookie Betts, Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger, they have one of the best lineups in baseball. Not to mention that they have an elite defense along with the great hitting. The Dodgers also had arguably the best pitching rotation in the league, headlined by future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw and young ace Walker Buheler. This team looked poised to make a run at another title this upcoming season. Then they signed NL Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer.

Bauer was outstanding for the Cincinnati Reds last year, posting a 1.73 ERA with a 0.79 WHIP and 100 strikeouts, good enough to secure the title as the best pitcher in the National League. Rumors were swirling all winter as Bauer trolled every baseball fan on Twitter during the process. It was released Thursday that his final two destinations were the Dodgers and the New York Mets. He even posted on social media that he would be giving away signed hats for both teams, just to piss off each fanbase even more. finally it was announced today that he signed with the Dodgers.

Great. Just great. The best pitcher on the market just signed with the best team in the league. As a Red Sox fan, I wasn't expecting to win the World Series this year, but I'm more disappointed for teams like the Braves and Mets who have young, talented rosters that were close to winning the pennant. Now it seems like they have no chance. Buheler is now the third best starter on the Dodgers. He would be the number one ace on most teams in the league. The lineup only lost Kike Hernandez and Joc Pederson, two players who were good, but weren't massive parts of their team. Assuming they re-sign Justin Turner, the Dodgers should still have the best lineup in baseball, and now with Bauer they have undoubtably the best pitching staff. All hope is lost for most teams after this move, and I don't blame them. This 2021 Dodger team might have the best roster on paper that I've ever seen. If they don't win the World Series this year, it will be a massive disappointment. I put money on them winning last year, and I'd strongly suggest betting on them to repeat this season as well.
